Dylan’s Favorite Things
A few months back I posted about my favorite things and all of them are pretty much still on the list today. Dylan has been pretty fickle about his favorite’s but a few constants remain. Such as…

This picture is currently hanging in our living room and no matter where Dylan is, whatever he’s doing, whoever is talking to him, if he catches this picture in his line of sight, he’s captivated. It goes as far as when he crying, I can hold him up to this picture, bam, he stops and just stares. I suppose Hendrix, Dylan’s middle namesake, has that effect on people.

This Knicks tapestry has a very similar effect..except his thinks it’s hilarious for some reason. It hangs right above his changing pad in his room and yet again, he’s mesmerized by it. In fact about a week after we brought him home, around the same time he noticed the Jimi Hendrix poster, if he sees it, he becomes fixated on it. Sometimes I just go into his room, hold him up to the tapestry and he just laughs and giggles at it. We thought it was funny at first then I realized that he’s probably laughing at the fact I’ve been torturing myself for over 20 years being a die-hard Knicks fan. Don’t laugh to hard buddy, you’re headed down the same road…if I have anything to say about it.

Yeah, the boy loves Black Flag. Sure, when my wife sings the 12 Days Of Christmas it’s nearly a guarantee he’s on his way to sleep, but it’s this D.C. 80’s punk/hardcore band that gets the smiles. Which is odd because Black Flag isn’t baby smile music. I’m either parenting very well or very poorly based on this fact alone.

Ok, that large toy box is full of all kinds of toys that make noise, are colorful, and have moving parts. What’s not in the picture is the score of other toys that are just too damn big to fit in a giant toy box. Now see that little cheesy stuffed cow with the plastic hands and feet? Yeah, that’s his favorite. Of all the toys that are designed for maximum baby fun, it’s this little guy right here that gets all the love. If his toy preferences are always this simple, we have a pretty smooth few years ahead of us. Naturally, they won’t be.
His hands. In his mouth. I don’t know why though. I’ve had his hands in my mouth…not that great.

His favorite people ever. I’m pretty sure. At least I hope we are.
